Derby Quarter Finals Tuesday

How sad that the going has had such an impact on the Derby. There are some who say that is part of the test and others who simply deny it to be so, but in my view as a dog owner, the least you can expect is a level playing field.

Greyhound Derby Special

I was staggered when I was there for the first two rounds to note that they do not plate (go round with tractor) the track for EVERY Derby race. Staggering. There are some exceptionally good dogs who have gone out of the Derby, purely down to the going. On Saturday there was a huge outside bias. The winner of the Derby 2016 will of course deserve it, but they will have been equally as lucky.

In my view Wimbldeon needs to either be redeveloped for greyhound racing or closed. The place is falling apart it is not up to the standards people expect for a night out and sadly the track is not providing a surface fit for such an event. It is not a popular view but it is one that can be wholly justified. Of course I want it to carry on as a greyhound stadium, but NOT in it’s present state, it is NO LONGER FIT FOR PURPOSE. over 75% of the stadium is condemned and not in use.

That though doesn’t excuse the state of the track, there should NEVER be a bias for a category one competition, its simply not fair for punters or for those who invest and work so hard to try and win the Derby. Many choose to bury their head in the sand and pretend it is great news that Wimbledon looks set to stage at least two more Derby competitions. I say the place is NO LONGER FIT FOR PURPOSE.

Look at Towcester, what a venue. It is packed on a Saturday night, no miracle formula, people love a great night out, BUT if they go to a place that is a dump, they will not come back. Towcester is wonderful and look at their success!

I am NOT betting until i see that there is no bias, or learn what it is in the early races. On the basis of all things been equal, my bets are:

20-16 Wimbledon, Trap 1 JAYTEE DUTCH
If there is any form of bias against the inside this will be a bet on the 6, but on a level track, a close race this will go to the red jacket for me, only a small bet.

20-33 Wimbledon Trap 2 SOUTHFIELD JOCK, MAX BET
Only if there is no bias, if so this is one of the bets of the night, fat out and lead all the way. Again any bias and NO BET.

20-51 Wimbledon Trap 1 HIYA BUTT MAX BET
Now my bet for the Derby at 12/1. Overcame the going last week and in a great race with the new Derby fav on his outside, in 6, this is a tough race, BUT at 7/2 I am more than happy with that!

21-08 Wimbledon Trap 4 BALLYMAC BROGAN, MAX BET
Think this dog has a BIG chance for the Derby again it is going dependent but at 7/2 GREAT BET.

Be an interesting night folks, let’s hope the going doesn’t ruin it, again!

Eden The Kid Icebucket Challenge

Mick Livesey @micklivesey says EDEN THE KID will get beat tonight. I say he is (not for the first time) talking rubbish! So we have had a friendly challenge. Whoever is WRONG has to do the Icebucket challenge. This is far bigger stakes than any financial interest! Pride and pain rule here!

Eden The Kid has been awesome and looks the dog most likely to win the Derby. I can not see him getting beat tonight! Mick is a good judge (usually), he said the same about Annie Power in the Champion Hurdle, she bolted home in a track record time. Will it be the same again tonight? We shall see. Eden The Kid runs in the 8-51 out of Trap 4 at Wimbledon. It is GAME ON!

Viking Jack Derby Round Two….

The Dream Continues! The Derby Live on #RPGTV on Thursday from Wimbledon. After a stunning run in round one, where Viking Jack rolled back the years and stormed to a superb victory. Watch here on YOUTUBE….

Win qualify or go home, Viking Jack is a star, legend and the best of the best in my eyes, he is almost 4 years old and still running at the top level. He has a chance of qualifying in the the first three – the one thing about Viking Jack is he NEVER gives up.

Jack heat

So Jack is in Trap 5. There are some good dogs in there so who knows what can happen, clearly TRAP 3 and TRAP 4 are the ones to focus on, but honestly ANY OF THEM could win including Viking Jack. I am only interested in progressing to round 3, that means the first 3 in the race. This is fun and we should enjoy it.

Latest Derby Prices: 80/1 (Click HERE)

He was 200/1 but now we are only able to get 80s, that has to be a bit of EW value, but hopefully you are on at a BIGGER PRICE.

Heat Betting- William Hill: 5/1

heat betting

Jack is the outsider here, but for me, he will outrun his price.I wouldn’t put you off a bet, but we just want him through!!

Come on Jack, let the dream continue, another round, but above all, be safe.

Viking Jack Is Back!

Viking Jack won his heat and is in the draw for round 2. He rolled back the years to win at 5/1. What a break, what a win…

When Jack leads he wins, it is that simple. This is Jack’s last Derby and he looks as good as ever. He beat the 1/3 fav easy enough and is now 66/1 from 200/1.

We dare to dream! Damson Jam went out, s the journey with Jack continues. Get on #TeamJack

Bob David greyhound Tips

I’m licking me wounds after seeing 2 nice ante post bets go west in the final at Hove last night, that’s dog racing though folks. 9.06 Henlow on RPGTV Trap 2 Savana Chloe looks a banker for Mr Fletcher and Kevin Boothby, she is very consistant on the clock and can make all.

Best of luck Bob

Jack and Jam In The Derby

Viking Jack and Damson Jack have both been drawn in the first round of the William Hill greyhound Derby, 2016, at Wimbledon. The Draw was supposed to be broadcast live but the internet connection was so poor it was not possible to see anything. Pretty inept, failure to plan is to plan to fail.

Not a great start to the William Hill Greyhound Derby. Damson Jam was best price 400-1 with Boylesports and Viking Jack 200-1 with a couple of firms. Of course Jack was a semi-finalist last year.

Viking Jack Runs Tuesday at Sheffield

Viking Jack Last Derby Campaign

It is great to have two great dogs, the Derby is of course a bit of a lottery. It is run at Wimbledon, it was supposed to be the last Derby at Wimbledon, but that is now in doubt. Something needs to be done at Wimbledon, one way or the other, it is an absolute dump of a place. Three quarters of it is condemned, it is a stadium steeped in history, but it is more a shrine to past glory than a modern sports stadium. I would love to see Wimbledon redeveloped, for greyhound racing, whether that happens or not I have no idea, but they can’t keep racing there, certainly not the Derby.

I am looking forward to the Derby, it is ALL LIVE on TV, the first two rounds are live on #RPGTV and the third round to the final on SKY SPORTS. It would be great to get t the final, certainly for Viking Jack, but it is a hell of a competition. The first prize is £150,000. There is a more even split of prize money this year so it is fairer!

I have two good dogs. It could be fun! Game on!

Viking Jack & Damson Jam Entered

Viking Jack and Damson Jam have been entered in the William Hill Greyhound Derby.

The draw will be made 1pm in the executive boxes at Wimbledon on Sunday May 1. The first round is expected to run Wednesday May 4, Thursday May 5, Friday May 6 and Saturday May 7. Qualification will depend on the number of entries and resulting heats.

The second round is Thursday May 12 and Saturday May 14. The entire first and second rounds are shown live on RPGTV, the third round onwards is live on Sky Sports.

Viking Jack got to the semi final last year. The first prize is £150,000 which is by ten times the biggest prize money of the year. So we have to have a crack at it. It is the number one greyhound competition in the world, we have two very good dogs so we are having a crack!

You can bet them at massive prices, but this is a tough tough competition. Remember Damson Jam runs in the final of the Northern Sprint at Sheffield on Tuesday, you can bet him at 12/1 which is a massive price!

I have posted the entry forms and the fee by guaranteed delivery for Monday, entries close at 12 noon Tuesday.

Game on!

200/1 Viking Jack For the Derby

Viking Jack kicks off his 2016 Greyhound Derby campaign tonight in a trial stakes at Wimbledon, live on #RPGTV. Get on EACH WAY at 200/1 Now for the Derby!

viking Jack Hi Res

Jack is in the 21.56 race in trap 6. As usual Jack is in the best race of the night and an exceptionally hard race. However I expect Jack to run a big race tonight, certainly the 14/1 on offer by Ladbrokes is WRONG, the wrong price and I am backing him each way.

However, you can get on Viking Jack at 200/1 for the Derby with Betvictor and Stan James. This is a MASSIVE PRICE, and NOW is the time to get on because he could be a SHORTER PRICE after the race tonight.

jack wimbledon

He will run well, this is a race packed with quality and would not disgrace a Derby final lineup! It is a big few weeks, we have DAMSON JAM in the final of the Bresmed Northern Sprint on Tuesday, Live on Sky and then in two weeks time, both VIKING JACK and DAMSON JAM will have a crack at the William Hill Derby.
