12/1 Damson Jam Exceptional Value

damson jam

I have had a decent bet at 12/1. Damson Jam is VALUE, for the Bresmed Northern Sprint tonight at Sheffield, live on Sky Sports tonight. This is a bet too good to miss!

So it is obvious that as the owner of Damson Jam I am going to be a bit bias in my view, but there is no question in my mind that we have some real value tonight at 12/1 with Paddy Power.

He is well drawn in trap one, in a race made up of FIVE rail seeds and one middle drawn in 6, the draw is critical and we have the plumb draw (what a pun). Last week he ran in the hottest sprint race run this year, fluffed the break and still came second. He beat GLENANMORE ACE in the heats who has a rotten draw in five.

21.08 Sheffield TRAP 1 DAMSON JAM

There is not much between any of these dogs and ANY OF THEM can win it, I will say this IF JAM STARTS and leads NOTHING WILL PASS JAMMY, NOTHING! He is a consistent starter and I don’t think he will fluff it twice in a row, if he gets a good start we are not a 12/1 chance and I would strongly think he would be first or second, you get 3/1 for the place.

Which ever way you cut it this is VALUE!! – CH

If you are a regular reader you should be holding a 33/1 each way ante post voucher, making it amazing value with money for the first four places. VALUE!

A couple of weeks ago I missed the THREE STEPS final, I was away in Abu Dhabi, Viking Jack was second, we were on EW at 50/1. Last week we had Jim’s dog ew LOWGATE HAGRID ew at 50/1 and he was second in the Gymcrack at Kinsley. This is the third Skysports Cat 1 Final that Jim has been in and we have a runner at 33/1. These are good times.

I grew up just down the road from Owlerton, that road leading to Rotherham. I first went there as a 14 year old lad, I have been there to watch Rugby League, Speedway and greyhounds. I love the place, the people, everything about it. I have been so lucky with Viking Jack, I have been in the STEEL CITY CUP FINAL and THE THREE STEPS TO VICTORY FINAL.  Now I complete the category one set with Damson Jam in the Bresmed Northern Sprint Final.

Thank you Bresmed
This has been a superb competition, well done to Bredmed for sponsoring and making this competition and this night one of the best of the year in the greyhound racing calendar. Thank you!

It would be a dream come true to win a category one at my beloved Owlerton Stadium. Jim Hayton deserves to as well, he runs dogs there week in and week out. The transformation in Damson Jam from grader to category one (second cat 1 final) finalist is worthy of note. No doubt about it, Jim Hayton is a category one trainer!

We won a big race with the Derby trial last year on TV with Viking Jack but this will be BIGGER, much bigger. This is THE BEST CHANCE we have had, I genuinely believe Damson Jam has a huge chance tonight and I think we can win this. Sprints are notoriously difficult but he is so consistent, running out of his skin. Look at his form, last nine runs, SIX WINS and THREE SECONDS in top company.

It is an £8000 to the winner final, but this is about more than money, MUCH MORE, it is about not just living the dream, but fulfilling it!

Get your bread on the Jam!

Damson Jam Lines Up in Northern Sprint

Damson Jam runs in The Bresmed Northern Sprint on Tuesday at Owlerton Stadium. It is a red hot competition and it has every right to be with EXCELLENT prize money on offer from BRESMED, and Geelo Racing.

This a truly superb sprint competition, the format is six heats, the first two qualify for two semi-finals with the final live on Sky. This is the best sprint competition of the year and the sponsors have been rewarded with a superb card.

The BIG GUNS are here, Walshes Hill, Mac Foiche, Target Harris (sadly not mine), Glenamore Ace, Scolari Sound, Laughing Gravy and the sponsors two good sprinters Geelo Jaguar and Geelo Bolt. Just to mention a few, there is quality in every heat. Damson Jam is in a hard heat, but they are all hard heats.

Damson Jam is good enough, he has shown that, but things will need to go his way, I think if he can qualify on Tuesday he will be doing well, it is a VERY GOOD HEAT, but he has posted impressive times over course and distance. Dogs who can’t break 16 seconds should not bother turning up. This will be ELECTRIC!

I am looking forward to it! Thanks once again to the sponsors.

Jack Lands 50/1 EW 3 Steps Money

SECOND! I am so proud of Jack in the twilight of his career to finish second in the Three Steps. Normally finishing second is heartbreaking BUT in Patchys Kerry we were up against a superstar and there is no shame in that, in fact quite the opposite! Watch the race here on YOUTUBE

Viking Jack landed some HUGE BETS for members as we advised him EACH WAY at 50/1 with Paddy Power. I had £50 ew with them and the same at 40/1 with Ladbrokes. It was a great result for the legion of Viking Jack fans and he has amassed many.

He collects £1000 in prize money for the second place. He has amassed some CV Jack and he is a truly special dog. He is not yet four but he will have one more campaign the 2016 William Hill Derby. That will be his last, although we may have a farewell race at Sheffield for him, which we will call The Viking Jack Retirement Stakes. We will toast his success. But there is the Derby and Jack is no back number, he showed some pace, he was semi finalist last year.

He never ever gives up Jack – I am so proud of him. I will be having him at home with me, I have told the family he is coming and thats that! He will also go to stud, but will travel to his stud duties which I guess makes me some kind of pimp! Hey ho!

What a journey, the best dog EVER, well he is for me!

Jack is One Step Away!

Viking Jack is one step away from the THREE STEPS but standing in his way is a formidable bitch in PATCHYS KERRY! She is rightly 1/3 and should win if all goes to plan.

It is a BIG IF though! She is a six bend bitch who excels over this trip but still posted exceptional times over 480 and 500, being just shy of the track record over 500 in the semis. Jack is getting better but it is hard, in honesty to see him beating Kerry.

However you have to be in it to win it and as the only wide seed, in a race of five railer’s anything can happen. No one ever wants trouble in a ace, but it happens and if there are any traffic problems Jack could capitalise. It would be a dream come true to win it, but the heart may long for it the head says Kerry will be away and gone and we are all playing for second.

I always think what if I didn’t own Jack, what would I do, well I would double all my bets with Kerry tonight. Luckily I do own Jack and I will be cheering him on from the Arabian Gulf. I am on at 50-1 and 40-1 so a place in the first 4 will be a decent pay day, winning it would of course be HUGE with the prize money! The prize is £10k tonight!

You can watch Jack on Sky Sports tonight at 21.08, he runs in Trap 6.

Viking Jack Runs At Sheffield Tonight

It might be the first day of the Cheltenham Festival but we also have Viking Jack at Sheffield tonight, I would have gone to Cheltenham BUT I am here to see Jack!

8.31 Sheffield TRAP 6 VIKING JACK

I spoke to Jim who says that he wants to see where we are with Jack. He was denied a clear run last time, getting trouble at the first bend. The three god, LIGHTFOOT MATA is a proper good dog, we should get a yardstick with him if we get a clear run.

viking Jack Hi Res

If he runs well here we plan to go for the THREE STEPS TO VICTORY! This is his last season racing, we will have a go at the Derby and Jack will retire at the end of the summer, it would be great for him to finish on a high!

He has been a superb dog, to say the least. He has given us so much to cheer, he is a once in a lifetime dog. Remember backing him at 20/1 for the Gold Cup? WATCH ON YOUTUBE

Carl Harris Sheffield Greyhound Tips

Well what a great night last night with Damson Jam making it four wins on the bounce with a wide margin victory at Nottingham. He had to battle at the bend and went past to win going away.

We told members, of my Private Service, to get on early. He was 4/5 best price with Paddy Power and was returned 4/5. Clearly we had plenty on! Won easily, yet again, My dog, inside info of the HIGHEST ORDER!

I have no runners at Sheffield but I am having some bets today. I have already given my members a HUGE MAX BET, which I am on BIG STYLE…

19.58 Sheffield TRAP 4 ACOMB RUBY

Queen Mother Cup, I think she will bash out and lead all the way, the one to beat for the comp. The final is on Sunday. If you can get a price for the Queen Mother Cup, get on this bitch. Jack will be on the card Sunday, hopefully and I will be there to see the final!

18.39 Sheffield TRAP 2 DROOPYS FIVE
18.56 Sheffield TRAP 4 WALSHES HILL

Both should win! Good luck, lets have another big night at the dogs!

Let’s Make Some Money,

Tuesday Evening Greyhound Bets

Mixed afternoon, a 7/2 winner at Lingfield, the dead cert double landed but sadly Take The Mick, did just that and got beat, but we did OK, and believe me if you do OK on days like today, then no worries!

Sheffield, superb night at Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium, a great track with great racing, and there is plenty of Open racing to be had there tonight!

It was two out of two last night for the Greyhound Bets, can we do it again tonight?

These are the dogs I like tonight (all at Sheffield)…

19.58 Sheffield TRAP 3 CLORAN PADDY
This should win this from start to finish, and if it misses the break, I still think it will win. I can’t see it beaten baring accidents!

8-31 was a Non Runner (Edited)

21.02 Sheffield TRAP 2 SWIFT CURIE 5/6
We were against her last week if you remember, but she is back in form, and never oppose this bitch when she is in form. I predict she will take it up on the third bend and that will be good night Vienna. Skybet are 5/6, tats a big price. Go off 4/6 for me!

All Max bets, all at Sheffield and Live on the BAGS service in your betting shop, or on bookmaker websites if you have a qualifying bet.

Sheffield Greyhounds Tuesday Night- Bets

Sheffield on a Tuesday night is great for the dogs when they hold open races and we kick off 2016 with a decent card. Carl Harris takes a look at the card…

It is never easy, but we make a consistent profit at Owlerton Stadium. Here are some thoughts for the card this evening, which you can see live in your betting shop on the BAGS service.

Saturday Wimbledon Consistency

All bets are at Sheffield…

Both bets are MAX BETS, both a touch on the short side but combined they make a decent Max Bet Double. SUPERMAC is from the Lister Kennel and ACE looks to be the best bet on the card. At 4/5 and 1/2 you would expect them to win readily, the double looks very tasty!

Swift Curie is the fav and a bitch that has served connections proud and has very good form. However she was beaten last time by the selection. When in form Curie takes some stopping, but I think she is worth opposing tonight with WORSBORO PHANTOM at around 9/4.

I am genuinely shocked at the price of 5/2 with Bet365. I thought this would be around 7/4, so this goes down as a value max bet. He is a good dog over this 480 trip. He can break quick and if he does it will be game over! Lets hope he makes all, get your money on at the early price!

I am hoping that the money is in the bank, by this race, but I do fancy this one against the joint fav Old Joe Golden. More consistent than Old Joe Golden, Lightfoot Scholar is the bet here.

WIN BET is 1pt MAX BET is 5pts

Viking Jack 12/1 For Steel City Cup

I have made no secret of the fact that the Steel City Cup is the race above all others (even the Derby but for the £250k prize money), and Jack has a great chance this year. You can get on now at 12/1 with sponsors Betfred.

Jack ran at Sheffield a couple of weeks ago, he slipped coming out of the traps, not for the first time there, but made up so much ground, beaten only 2 lengths in a fast time. He showed us he was back to his best. Jack runs Sheffield exceptionally well, have a look at this….

We backed him that night, he made some good dogs look ordinary there. Of course with Jack he is liable to make a hash of things, but when he gets things right, he could do something special. Sheffield is his track!

We face some good dogs in this competition. It is one of the very best category one competitions of the year. Barry Draper will be all out to win this, the Sheffield trainer has some good dogs. Sussex Cup winner Ballymac Mossjoe is the one to beat, Glenpadden Rock also has a great chance. Making Paper for Diane Henry will be absolutely trained to the minute for this and of course you can never overlook the Parker dogs. Conna Trigger is a fast starting dog and a major player. These are all good dogs. But 12/1 about Jack is simply the wrong price. We have got stuck in.

He has some CV Jack. He got to the final last year BUT he had had a long campaign and was probably over the top by the final. We have not made that mistake this year, he is fresh as can be. He is bouncing!

There are two that go through to the semi from the heats and 3 from the two semi’s make the final that will be live on Sky Sports. Viking Jack is a great bet.

I tried to get £500 win with Coral, but they refused….

Only £100 offered at 12/1. I find that a bit poor. Betfred / Totesport sponsor the event and offered the same price so I made a call and they laid the rest! So I am on for £500 win at 12/1 and Jim has had his biggest bet of the year at £50 each way at 12/1. That tells you how we feel about his chances!

I grew up in Rotherham, just down the road and first visited Owlerton in 1984, at the age of 14. Not to watch dogs ironically but to see Sheffield Eagles, Rugby League. Jim, like me is a proud Yorkshireman. We would dearly love to win the Steel City Cup. We run at Sheffield regularly, the track is the best in the country and the people are superb. Greyhound folk are good folk, Yorkshire greyhound folk are second to none. We have a good laugh but the people there on a Tuesday know their dogs. This is our big one!

We have never had a better chance of winning The Steel City Cup, and we may never get a better chance! Come on Jack!

Viking Jack Starts Sheffield Campaign

Wow, it doesn’t seem a year ago we were winning the Gold Cup at Monmore and thinking about the Steel City Cup at Sheffield.

Viking Jack SheffieldHead

Well here we are again in August and about to embark on the Steel City Cup campaign again. This will be Jack’s last chance to win it. He lines up tonight in an open at Sheffield, on a card packed full of quality with superb prize money all the way through.

This is a warm up race, Jack will probably need the run to get back to his absolute best, but he has a great chance in a good race. The one dog is the puppy derby winner, from Monmore and is really strong. It will be interesting to see how Jack runs.

The Derby took a lot out of him, he was not 100% when running fourth in the Select Stakes, but the aim is the Steel City Cup, it is the race we desperately want to win. He got to the final last year, but was I think over the top. We have been very selective with his races this year and he will be ready for the Steel City Cup, don’t worry about that!

We know he runs Sheffield well, he won the Derby trial Stakes here is style, anywhere close to that tonight and he will win readily, but it is about the competition in a couple of weeks time!

He is a great dog, once in a lifetime and every time he runs now it is special. I will be there tonight and looking forward to it at my favourite track. Get down to Sheffield tonight, it will be busy!
