Monday Night Greyhound Tips

Monday is a good night at the dogs at Nottingham, with some good opens, as is Tuesday at Sheffield. We have a runner on Tuesday, Damson Jam is in a sprint at Sheffield. We have TWO MAX BETS tonight…

We were done in a photo last night, I personally don’t think the inside was running last night, but that is just my view! Nothing I can do about it either way now!

We have to wait until later to kick off our punting…

21.07 Nottingham MAX BET- Trap 3 SLANEYSIDE PUP (NAP)
No prices yet, we will advise on FACEBOOK when and if there are any, but if there are prices, will pay to take them. Peter Derrick and co do not give much away at Colwick Park! This looks a pup to keep on side. Looks a flying machine. MAX BET, if the price is right!

21.22 Nottingham MAX BET trap 3 TRYUR DICKY
Again no early odds. Much depends on the prices BUT this looks a race perfectly made up for Charlie Lister’s bitch! I would expect her to make all here, and hopefully we will get a bet at decent odds!

Good Luck

Damson Jam Through To British Semi’s

Damson Jam was unlucky not to win, but is in the hat for the semi finals of the British Breeders. He missed the break, and having not been over four bends in a while needed the run…

He will be better for that and we are excited about making the final. He will have to face Eden The Kid at some stage who looks a penalty kick in to an open goal! Different class of dog, but you never know!

I met Damson Jam’s breeder at Nottingham, and asked him why he called the dog Damson Jam, “It is my favourite jam!” he replied. Fair play!

I usually change my dogs names to Viking, but I like the name so he remains Jammy! Our new dog has arrived and he will be called Viking Beano (from Jacob’s Beano) and I think he will be OK. Very well looked after, he could be another Damson Jam!

Viking Jack Runs In The Select Stakes

It is the Betfred Select Stakes at Nottingham, a one off race where the best six dogs in the country are invited to run for a one off £7500. Viking Jack is among them and this is the feature race on a card that is also live on Sky Sports. I will be there with Jack, if you fancy a night at the dogs its free and you get a free beer and racecard! (see below).

It is a huge honour to be invited, we have been lucky and drawn trap 6, but this is some race. The dog in 5 Swift Hoffman is flying in trials and he clearly likes this track, but trials and races are different. Eden The Kid is potentially a star in the making, a Derby Finalist. Domino Storm won The Derby Plate and Swift Keith is an East Anglian Derby Winner. There is a non runner in trap 4. It is a seriously good race, but as we know Jack is a seriously good dog!

Pay Freeze won the Select last year, he was a dog I hugely admired, in many ways Jack comes here with a similar profile in so much as he hasnt been at the top of his game. Pay Freeze won despite being below par prior to the race, I hope Jack has the same result. His trial last week wasn’t great, BUT we know why, and you don’t have to worry. Someone posted on Twitter that we would need Jesus Christ himself to get Jack to win this race. Well we have Jim, I wouldn’t swap that even for the good lord himself!

Jack is not without a chance and I am completely bias but at 9/1 with Hills I am going to have a sporting bet. I think he has a better chance than the price suggests. He will need to trap out though, as he can do from time to time. He is up against it, but he is no 9/1 shot that is for sure. I am just going to enjoy the night. To have a dog selected for the Select Stakes is better than anything I could expect and Viking Jack is a star, he is the dog of a lifetime and I just love the adventure we have been on with him.

My family has had a rotten few months and Jack has been the sunshine, with an amazing Derby campaign, he has done more for me than he will ever know, he owes us nothing and we just have to enjoy him whilst we have him. We would be blessed to have another like him. I just enjoy the journey, because happiness is a journey, and boy is this one fun!

One final thought with Jack, you never know what he is going to do, he could easily win, or make a hash of it, that is part of the excitement, isn’t it???

Lode Henry Back Over Four Bends

Lode Henry runs over four bends at Nottingham on Monday. He is in a dual distance trophy competition. He must finish in the first two to qualify for next week’s final.

Lode Henry at Sheffield

Lode Henry at Sheffield

He had a couple of sprints at Sheffield, which should have brought him on. They were red hot sprints, now he is pitched in at a more reasonable level. He has really good form at Nottingham, having beat Redbrick Stuart there over 480m.

He was on the top of his game then, he may not quite be back to that standard, we thought 6 weeks or so to get him back, and we are well on target for that.  The race is live on SIS on Monday…

20.36 Nottingham TRAP 2 LODE HENRY

Trap 2 is perfectly ok. The greyhound in the red has pace. Henry will have to get a flyer, we are looking for a good run and get Henry back on track. Anything he does for the next 3 or 4 runs is a bonus!
