Damson Jam 8/1 Sky Max Bet

On Tuesday Live from Nottingham, The Select Stakes and my dog Damson Jam runs and he is 8-1. Bet365 have gone mad, this is a MAX BET, I was expecting 3/1 at best, 8/1 is H U G E !

8-16 Nottingham TRAP 1 DAMSON JAM 8/1 365
This is my dog, I own him BUT he is 8-1 with Bet365, this is a stupid price. He beat the fav 7 days ago over CD and we had a crap draw, now we have the plumb draw and are 8-1 v 7/4. He is a dual cat one finalist and he has beaten Scholari sound the last twice they have met, last week over course and distance he did it the hard way from a bad draw. I genuinely think this is the BEST 8-1 shot I have ever backed! Win or lose this is a value bet. For the record I think he will win!
Monster bet. take 8-1 365- ODDS HERE

No Magic In The Stayers….

8-51 Nottingham TRAP 1 BORNA MINDY 7/2 Paddy power
the fav is unbeatable over MARATHON TRIPS, will be done for speed early and that could be decisive. Get the second fav at 7/2 – this is real value. 7/2 Paddys is a big price. Best Odds HERE

Again a fast start is the order of the day but this is really a golden opportunity for this well bred sort to get his head in front once again.

Good Luck.

Eden The Kid 1/5- Remember Zaynar?

Damson Jam lines up against Eden the Kid the red hot favorite, at 1/5, in the British Breeders Final on Tuesday.

Eden The Kid is undoubtedly in a different league to the rest of the field and should win and win in some style to take the £8000 first prize. I certainly do not expect to be winning, in fact it is improbable, but not impossible. Eden The Kid at 5s on, but a few years ago I saw a horse turned over at much shorter odds.

Zaynar in 2010 was turned over at odds of 1-14. This is what the Racing Post reported…

ZAYNAR, outright favourite for the Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle with Victor Chandler, suffered a shock defeat at odds of 1-14 at Kelso on Thursday.

Quwetwo, a horse rated 35lb inferior to Zaynar and having his first run for almost a year, made the contest a true test from the off and was always doing enough to hold the JCB Triumph Hurdle winner on the stamina-sapping climb to the line.

It just goes to show you never know, or as some might sat grasping at straws! It will be a great evening and at 25/1 each way the first 3 will be a nice pay out. It is a great achievement for Damson Jam to make the final!

The final is live on Skysports on Tuesday.

Viking Jack Runs In The Select Stakes

It is the Betfred Select Stakes at Nottingham, a one off race where the best six dogs in the country are invited to run for a one off £7500. Viking Jack is among them and this is the feature race on a card that is also live on Sky Sports. I will be there with Jack, if you fancy a night at the dogs its free and you get a free beer and racecard! (see below).

It is a huge honour to be invited, we have been lucky and drawn trap 6, but this is some race. The dog in 5 Swift Hoffman is flying in trials and he clearly likes this track, but trials and races are different. Eden The Kid is potentially a star in the making, a Derby Finalist. Domino Storm won The Derby Plate and Swift Keith is an East Anglian Derby Winner. There is a non runner in trap 4. It is a seriously good race, but as we know Jack is a seriously good dog!

Pay Freeze won the Select last year, he was a dog I hugely admired, in many ways Jack comes here with a similar profile in so much as he hasnt been at the top of his game. Pay Freeze won despite being below par prior to the race, I hope Jack has the same result. His trial last week wasn’t great, BUT we know why, and you don’t have to worry. Someone posted on Twitter that we would need Jesus Christ himself to get Jack to win this race. Well we have Jim, I wouldn’t swap that even for the good lord himself!

Jack is not without a chance and I am completely bias but at 9/1 with Hills I am going to have a sporting bet. I think he has a better chance than the price suggests. He will need to trap out though, as he can do from time to time. He is up against it, but he is no 9/1 shot that is for sure. I am just going to enjoy the night. To have a dog selected for the Select Stakes is better than anything I could expect and Viking Jack is a star, he is the dog of a lifetime and I just love the adventure we have been on with him.

My family has had a rotten few months and Jack has been the sunshine, with an amazing Derby campaign, he has done more for me than he will ever know, he owes us nothing and we just have to enjoy him whilst we have him. We would be blessed to have another like him. I just enjoy the journey, because happiness is a journey, and boy is this one fun!

One final thought with Jack, you never know what he is going to do, he could easily win, or make a hash of it, that is part of the excitement, isn’t it???

Greyhound Tips at Nottingham- SKY SPORTS Tonight

Free Greyhound Tips

A great night of Greyhound racing tonight LIVE ON SKY,, and we have some great bets tonight at NOTTINGHAM. Viking Jack is in action too, it could be a BIG NIGHT, here are the best bets on the card

Max bet tonight! Has some good times round here and looks to be the best by far tonight!

Do not worry about the price 16-1. First time over the trip, she could pull off a surprise here at a BIG PRICE! She stays longer than the Mother in law. She is trained by Jim Hayton and owned by a friend of mine. Could be a great bet at the price!

8-32 TRAP 5 VIKING JACK- 3/1
If he gets a good start he can win this well and 3/1 is a BIG PRICE! Of course Jack is my own dog and he has the ability to win this easily, but has not been running at his best. I hope he pings the lids and wins this well!

Best bet on the card tonight! This is the final of the ECLIPSE and Maum Legend has been impressive, one more good break will see him home and dry!

The Source also has a HUGE DOG BET TONIGHT that he says WILL NOT GET BEAT!

Viking Jack 4/1 For Eclipse Semi

Viking Jack is rated as a 4/1 chance to win his semi final tonight at Nottingham. Maum Legend is as short as even money to win the race. He got the better of Viking Jack last week…

You will see Jack made a tardy start. he soon recovered and was unlucky not to win the race. Jack will need to start better, if he gets a good start he can qualify. The dangers are of course Maum Legend but also the mark Wallis trained Benkat Nero.

The first TWO will qualify for the semi finals which are on Sky on Tuesday 18th November. Jack has already been in three category one finals this year, winning one of them!

We are confident Jack will qualify! He is still available at 12/1 for the competition and of course should he qualify it goes without saying he will be much shorter!

In the other semi finals DROOPYS NORRIS and NEWIN YOLO look the dogs to beat! We hope Jack gets through and that he get’s trap 6 in the final!

Viking Jack Qualifies for Eclipse Semi Finals

Viking Jack ran a superb race to qualify for the Semi-Finals of the Eclipse at Nottingham….

Jack missed the break but powered down the back straight to run MAUM LEGEND, antepost fav for the competition, to a head.

Not only did Jack miss the break but he also was taken wide at the bend. Jim Hayton was delighted and was full of praise for his category one winner!

The semi-final is next Monday. Viking Jack is guaranteed the six box, with the draw being made on Tuesday by the GBGB. It is my belief that the draw should be made in public at the track, or if not filmed and posted on YOUTUBE.

Should the big guns all be kept apart by the draw, if done openly, then then there can be no allegations levelled at the integrity of the sport. Certainly this is another way the sport can help itself.

1 MCGIOLA Philp Stoner (Unat) 50/1
2 FIT O WIN Anthony Colet (W’don) 20/1
3 TOMS KNOWLEDGE Kevin Huton (Swnd) 33/1
4 BENKAT NERO Mark Walis (Yrmth) 16/1
5 MAUM LEGEND (M) James Wright (Newcl) 5/1
6 VIKNG JACK (W) James Hayton (Knsly) 14/1

Viking Jack 25/1 for The Eclipse

Viking Jack_GoldCupJacket

25/1 with Betfred is a big price! No question!  Jack is not a 25/1 shot, not in a months of Sundays!

The case for the prosecution is that Jack has not sparkled since winning the Gold Cup at Monmore, and looks a shadow of the dog that won a category one so stylishly!

However the case for the defence is Sheffield was never going to be his track and he came back at Nottingham, running a decent race in the four box (wrong box) and then was completely taken out last week at the first bend. He made up plenty of ground in that race and I suggest he is the wrong price, 25/1 is great value!

It is yet another good competition with NEWIN YOLO and MAUM LEGEND being worthy favourites. BUt at 25/1 I think you are getting genuine value and he is well worth a good bet, each way. His heat is a tough one, but he should be going through, the first three qualify for the semi finals, with the final on 18th November, yet again on SKY.

Underground Paul won the STEEL CITY CUP and then the KENT DERBY, a really good dog. Maum Legend is a quality dog, who was third in the ALL ENGLAND CUP and clocked a fast time here last week.. Snappers lad hails from the Champion Kennel of Mark Wallis. Geelo Midnight is no slouch.  I would like to see Jack get a good break and get to the front. I think he will come on through the competition.

I a prepared to take a chance on Jack at 25/1.
