Grand National Picks

SATURDAY GRAND NATIONAL

The Grand National is probably the toughest race of the year to find the winner, and in all honesty the pin sticker has as much chance as the expert, which is probably why the race is so popular.

If you are looking for some guidance then here are the Fineform picks for the 2016 Grand National.

5-15 Aintree- The Grand National

MANY CLOUDS won this race last year and is an 8/1 Fav to do it again this year. It is exceptionally tough to win a Grand National and the amount of luck needed for my mind makes it ridiculously difficult to win it more than once. I am prepared to overlook the FAV, although he has a very good chance.

We have chosen TWO against the field, which are…

THE LAST SAMURAI Each Way 12/1
Kim Bailey won the national as a trainer 26 years ago! As a form student this is THE BEST HANDICAPPED HORSE IN THE RACE. One which is best weighted. His jumping has looked sound and he looks a horse that stays longer than the Mother-in-Law so should thrive over this mammoth trip. Had three runs since leaving Donald McCain and has thrived for the move to Kim Bailey. David Bass rides, knows the horse well and will land his first national if he wins. This is our best bet for the race.

Our second bet is

SILVINIACO CONTI Each Way 14/1
We are going for class here, a horse that is a multiple group one winner, boasting an impressive CV. Is probably not the Group 1 horse of a couple of years ago but has stamina and can jump really well, which are the two attributes needed to win a Grand National. The main ingredient of course is LUCK. This is pivotal for Paul Nicholls, if he wins the Gand National he will be assured of being Champion trainer, which he is desperate to retain. Had 8 weeks off, so will be fresh and this is a nice bet at a nice price.

CAUTION
The grand National is so unpredictable, do not have more than a flutter!
