Injury Forces Jack Out Of All England Cup

Sadly Viking Jack has had to withdraw from the All England Cup!

He injured his toe and whilst it is not serious on vets advice he requires 3 weeks off. So we immediately advised the track and withdrew. Whilst we are disappointed, the injury is not at all serious and Jack will be fine.

Indeed he will continue his swimming, which has really got him fit and he loves it. I was talking to Jim and we both agree we will play it by ear, but we hope to have him back for a race before a break. If he comes back he will have another crack at the Derby, or he will retire! Jack will tell us.

Both Jim and I are of the same mind, we love him too much to take any risks, but whilst he is running well and enjoying it he will race. Any injuries and that is it, game over!

Jack is the best dog I will ever own. Now the plan is to find another, hopefully that will be a son of Jack. He will sire a litter with Viking Cheryl, and will also have a go at stud. If he isn’t popular he will come home with me!

Jack Through With Miracle Run

WOW! How did Jack qualify, he was out of the race at the first bend then he kicked in the Turbo…

That is some recovery at this level and we go in to the draw. The final is live on Sky the following midweek. It would be great to win another category 1, but there are some good dogs in the draw!

Viking Jack 2/1 For Heat and 12/1 Outright

Viking Jack is racing on Saturday night at Newcastle

8.58 Newcastle TRAP 6 VIKING JACK
Viking Jack is worth a bet tonight at Newcastle (8.58 Trap 6) which is live on RPGTV. It is the heat of the All England Cup.
He is well drawn in trap 6 and this could very much play to his strengths, if he gets a flying start it should be good enough. First three go through.
There are three rounds in total, it is a very strong competition with some big players. We are in there and Jack is a superb completion dog.

As previously advised Viking Jack is a great price to win it, 12/1 Betfred and Totesport. Very good each way price that!

Viking Jack All England Cup Bid…

Viking Jack has drawn trap 6 in the first round of the All England Cup, at Newcastle on Saturday. What looks a very good competition, as usual, the All England Cup is one of the premier category 1 competitions of the year.

Jack did a great gallop last week at the track and was up Jim’s gallops on Wednesday. Jim reports the dog to be bouncing!

Viking Jack SheffieldHead

We will have it on to beat Swift Hoffman who is a proper dog and his recent trial times suggest he is in tip top form.

You can watch the first round heats on Saturday evening live on RPGTV. The first three will go through to the semi finals, the following Saturday and the final is live on Sky TV.

William Hill, the sponsors make Viking Jack a 10/1 chance for the Event, click here

Viking Jack is as ready as he can be and we know that he likes Newcastle, I can’t wait!

Jack Aiming For All England Cup

Viking Jack is being aimed at the Newcastle All England Cup at Newcastle. I spoke to Jim today and he is going for a trial this week, the competition starts a week on Saturday, with the final live on Sky Sports.

Viking Jack has been taken swimming and has taken to it like a duck to water, he absolutely loves it! Swimming is a great way to get dogs fit without the impact of running, it also uses other muscles in their body.

Viking Jack is just a superb greyhound who has given his fans so much fun. He is just a wonderful dog, and Jim has said today that he wants to give Jack a nice long rest over the winter and then bring him back for the Derby 2016, which will be his last competition, he will retire then, he will be 4 years old. That is our plan for Jack!

Diane Henry trains Thirteenbags

19-34 Newcastle TRAP 4- THIRTEEN BAGS
Trained by the prettiest greyhound trainer, Diane Henry. Thirteen bags has the best time of these and the best form, the only negative is that he is not the fastest starter. That is the difference between making this a MAX BET.

19-49 Newcastle TRAP 4- CONNA TRIGGER (MAX BET) 15/8 Sky Bet.
Trained by Kelly Macari CONNA TRIGGER narrowly missed out on the STEEL CITY CUP, getting picked up. This is a shorter distance and this is a MAX BET. Trigger has blistering early pace so he is almost certain to lead.

20-04 Newcastle TRAP 1- PINPOINT FINAS (MAX BET) 4/6 General.
Trained once again by Kelly Macari. Pinpoint Finas has loads of speed and is probably the best sprinter about right now. He won at Doncaster, Sheffield and can make it three in front of the Sky Cameras.

20-19 Newcastle NO BET ADVISED

20-34 Newcastle TRAP 3- JAYTEE CHINA 6/4 William Hill
Bitches final, with Paul Young bringing this one a long way north. Good run in the heats, 28.65 – looks the class act here.

20-49 Newcastle TRAP 4- BLACKHOUSE HEIDI 5/2 William Hill
Put in a track record breaking performance at the weekend in qualifying for this final. NOT favourite, and represents value!

21-04 Newcastle NO BET ADVISED

21-19 Newcastle TRAP 6- MAUM LEGEND (MAX BET) 3/1 Ladbrokes
Advised at 7/1 to win this competition this youngster has class and though having Swift Keith and Newin Yolo in the field this will be a tough assignment, but this dog is good value tonight and can land the big bets for us at 7/1.

It is a good card tonight, Live on Sky Sports. This is what we need to see, good quality racing!

All England Cup Looks Red Hot Already

by Carl HarrisThe ALL ENGLAND CUP at Newcastle is shaping up to be a RED HOT competition. Firstly Viking Jack will NOT be running in this, which is a shame, we would love to have had a crack at it. However the crazy race scheduling means it would be wrong to go from the Steel City Cup, on Tuesday to the Steel City Cup on Saturday.

It would be great to have a Northern Double, but a dog would need both a break and the opportunity to trial after the Steel City Cup. The race sceduling for greyhounds at times makes no sense, this one certainly doesn’t!

This is reported on the Racing Post website today…

NEWINN YOLO put down a massive marker ahead of the William Hill All England Cup starting at the track on Saturday, October 4 with a superb 28.17sec (normal) trial before racing at Newcastle on Thursday.

Pat Rosney’s Nottingham Puppy Classic champion steered a middle course from trap two (4.60sec sectional) as he posted a time which has only been bettered twice in races at the Byker circuit, Droopys Shearer’s scarcely believable 27.90sec track record in 2004 and a 28.14sec from Blonde Boss the following year.

Next quickest trial was the 28.31sec from Kelly Macari’s Pinpoint Maxi with last year’s Sunderland Classic champion clocking the fastest sectional of the session, namely 4.57sec.

Jimmy Wright’s Maum Legend, whose recent 28.22sec and 28.24sec victories represent the fastest times of 2014, was first to trial when posting 28.52sec off a modest 4.78sec split, while Rosney’s Swift Hoffman recorded 28.56sec (4.68sec sectional).

*The £10,000 All England Cup closes to entries at noon on Thursday, October 2.

Newin Yolo is a serious pup, that time is absolutely flying! Maum Legend looked the dog to beat, and still is in my view. Solo times are all well and good but there is no substitute for racing. These two dogs though have clocked times that put them right at the top of the market and the ones to beat.

Jimmy Wright’s dog has plenty of track experience and races there, which is a HUGE plus. I make this the dog to beat, but it will be a red hot competition. There are some very good young dogs coming through, Viking Jack best look out!
