Sunday Horseracing Tips

For punters this is a very difficult time, the mild start to the winter has given way to rain, and lots of it! You don’t need me to tell you that! They should introduce a new going description, which is when heavy turns to “desperate”.

There is only one meeting in the UK today, which is at Southwell. Low grade flat racing on fibre sand. Do not get me wrong, I like Southwell, but it is not quality racing, by any stretch on the imagination, although Thommo can make it sound like the Epsom Derby when he commentates!

I was at Towcester last night and Matt Chapman was commentating on the greyhounds. What a brilliant greyhound track, but sadly it was a washout and our dogs hated the wet. That said Jack trialed back well, he is sound and that is the main thing we were looking for….

He needs a couple more trials to be race ready, but Jack is Back! He is a superstar, no question. Driving Champ has now retired, he sustained a small injury, but he will be fine. He has done his time and now we will find him a home. If you would like a lovely pet, let me know! He is a lovely dog !

SUNDAY
Personally I am not betting and if so to anything other than minimum stakes, riding out this wet period! If you want a bet this Sunday, here are the best bets on the card…

13.10 Southwell  AGUEROOO

Handicapper has put this one up 10 pounds, but the horse is improving and went well over course and distance last time, under Hollie Doyle confortably beating Modest who is well named and lines up again today. The main danger is Kingsley Klarion who has no form on this unique surface, though the yards horses do well here. Looks a solid bet, but that is reflected in the price.

13.40 Southwell PLAY NICELY

One you probably will want to add to doubles, it is a short price, but looks well in, a point and shoot job. If you are betting, add this as a double for a 50% winnings uplift!

14.40 Southwell CAPTAIN LARS EW

Each way price and one for the value seekers. I bet this when winning here last time, for Michael Bell in a claimer and goes today for the new yard, of Derek Shaw. has not been there long enough to have had any impact, so the switch is irrelevant. This is a handicap, not a claimer, but the manner of victory suggests the horse is well and could run a big race here, certainly at the price he is worth an each way investment.

Greyhound Bets
We will have some bets for you this afternoon for Henlow, on RPGTV this evening.
